Adaptation of Boost Pressure

Adaptation of maximum boost pressure is carried out continuously during normal driving. If the TRIONIC control module has been removed or other measures have been carried out which affect the adaptation level, it is possible to speed up the adaptation and thus reach maximum performance more quickly by carrying out adaptation of the system.

IMPORTANT: The engine should be thoroughly warm and the basic boost pressure adjusted to the correct value. Use high quality, high octane fuel.

If the pressure switch has switched off repeatedly because of too high a boost pressure (for example as a result of a faulty boost pressure control valve), you will obtain maximum negative adaptation. This means that the maximum boost pressure does not reach its normal value. To get the maximum boost pressure back to its normal value, disconnect and reconnect the control module by carrying out adaptation.

Carry out a full throttle acceleration from about 2000 rpm to 4500 rpm on as a high gear as possible. As the boost pressure must have time to stabilize in the adaptation range (2750-4000 rpm), it is best to carry out the adaptation on an uphill slope.

You might have to repeat the exercise until you have reached maximum nominal boost pressure as regards quantity of fuel used etc.
