Checking Fuel Pump Flow Capacity

CHECKING FUEL PUMP CAPACITY, FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINE






1. Disconnect the return line from the fuel injection manifold, using special tool 83 94 702. Tools and Equipment
Use a pair of flat-nose pliers to remove the quick- coupling's rubber seal.

2. Connect the adapter with hose, special tool 83 94 918, to the fuel injection manifold's return line. Tools and Equipment
Run the hose to a suitable receptacle.

3. Run the fuel pump for 30 seconds, using battery voltage from fuse No.4 (input) connected to fuse No.32 (output) in the fuse box.
Use a jumper lead, special tool 83 93 886. Tools and Equipment

- During 30 seconds of operation the fuel pump should deliver at least 700 ml of fuel to the receptacle.



Important In all work involving disconnection of the fuel line quick- couplings, great care must be taken to avoid damaging the sealing surface of the male coupling half. If the male coupling half is extremely dirty it should be cleaned before removal. Also clean the sealing surface after removal, if necessary. Use a soft cloth. Lubricate the male coupling half with motor oil before fitting.
