Fuel Pressure Regulator: Testing and Inspection

CHECKING THE PRESSURE REGULATOR, FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE






1. Connect the pressure gauge, special tool 83 93 852, to the pressure side of the fuel injection manifold. Tools and Equipment

2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and connect the vacuum pump.

3. Start the vacuum pump. Use battery voltage from fuse No.4 (input) connected to fuse No.32 (output) in the fuse box. Use a jumper lead, special tool 83 93 886. Tools and Equipment

4. Take a reading at atmospheric pressure. It should be 3 bar (43 psi).

5. Increase the vacuum in the pressure regulator by means of the vacuum pump, special tool (45) 30 14 883. System pressure should now drop by the same amount as shown on the pressure gauge.


Additionally for the turbo engine:

6. Increase the pressure in the pressure regulator by means of the vacuum pump. System pressure should now go up by the same amount as shown on the pressure gauge.
