Canister Purge Valve - MIL ON/DTC's Set
CATEGORY: ElectricalSECTION: 3
PAGE: 77
ISSUE: 10/95
CODE: 371
Subject:
Harness Connector to Canister
Purge Valve Difficult to Fit
Application:
1992-94 900 Models
Intermittent illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) [CHECK ENGINE lamp] can occur due to the harness connector not being properly connected to the canister purge valve. The reason for this is that the locating lugs on the bottom of the cable connector interfere with the housing on the canister purge valve. This causes the connector to cock to one side and not make positive contact. This problem will generate ISAT DTC's as follows:
LH DTC: 58372, 38372, 38322 58322, 38382, 58382
LH Flash Codes: 12223, 12241, 12244, 12111, 12112
Trionic DTC: P0171, P0172, P1443, P1444, P1445
Trionic Flash Codes: 7, 8
Cars Affected:
1992-1993 900 models up to VIN P2011368.
1994 900 models up to VIN R2015828.
Action:
1. M1992-1993, 1994 convertible:
Locate the evaporative emission canister in the front left-hand wheel house.
M1994:
Locate the canister purge valve on the righthand strut tower.
2. Check that the connector is properly fitted and pushed onto the canister purge valve. If the connector can easily be removed, check if both locating lugs are on the cable connector.
3. If both lugs are there, file away at least 4 mm as shown in Figure 2.
4. Refit the cable connector and check that the canister purge valve is working.
5. Erase any fault codes with ISAT.
