Fault Diagnosis, Drive Input Signal From Auto Transmission

FAULT DIAGNOSIS, DRIVE, IN PUT SIGNAL FROM AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Symptom of fault
Reduction in engine idling speed when the selector lever is moved from P or N

Diagnostic procedure
1. Connect an ISAT scan tool.

- Ignition switched ON.
- Select the "DRIVE" command in the ISAT menu "READ FUNCTIONS".
- Check that an input signal is present by moving the selector lever from P and N to another gear position.
- If the ISAT scan tool shows the correct value, continue with "Fault Code Testing, diagnostic trouble code P0505, [1][2]idle air control valve".
- If the ISAT shows an incorrect value, continue with step 2.

2. Connect a Break Out Box (BOB) to the Trionic ECM.

- Measure the voltage in pin 14, input signal from automatic transmission.

The nominal value is 0 V with the selector lever in position P or N and 12 V with the selector lever in positions R, D, 3, 2 or 1.

- If the voltage measurement shows correct values, continue at "Procedure before replacing ECM".
- If the voltage measurement shows incorrect values, check and if necessary remedy the fault in the lead between pin 14 of the Trionic ECM and pin 11 of the transmission control module.
- If the lead is 0K, continue fault diagnosis in the automatic transmission".
