Extra Fog Lights
NOTE: The lights switch must be in a position where the parking lights are on. This is to ensure that the Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module is supplied with current from the switch for the extra fog lights.
1 Check that the fuses for the extra tog lights in the main fuse box in the dashboard are intact and live.
2 Check that the bulbs are in working order and that 12 V is supplied to the extra fog lights by taking a reading across connector pin 1 and a good grounding point.
Also check that the resistance is < 1 ohm between connector pin 2 and a good grounding point.
3 It 12 V is not supplied to the extra fog lights, check the wiring for continuity/shorting by taking a reading between pin 87 of the relay connector and pin 1 of the connector for the lamps.
4 Plug in the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool and select "READ FAULT CODES" from the menu. If any diagnostic trouble codes are present, continue in Trouble Code Tables.
5 Check the operation of the extra fog lights by selecting "READ SWITCHES" from the menu and then "EXTRA FOG LIGHTS". Read the ISAT scan tool display as follows:
Switch activated --> "ON"
Switch not activated --> "OFF"
6 Check that 12 V is present between pin 5 of the switch connector and a good grounding point. If the voltage is correct, see point 7
If it is not, check the wiring for continuity/shorting between the fuse for the left-hand parking lights and pin 5 of the switch connector.
7 Connect a jumper lead between pins 5 and 7 of the switch connector.
If the fog lights work, the fault is in the switch. Change the switch.
8 If they do not work, check the wiring for continuity/shorting as follows:
- between ICE module pin 17 and switch connector pin 7.
