Engine Off Time

At outside temperatures above +2 °C, and depending on how long the engine has been switched off, there may be a risk of the windshield misting up next time the engine is started. The reason for this is condensation in the evaporator.

When the ignition is switched on the SID calculates how long the engine has been switched off and sends this information to the ACC control module. On the basis of the ENGINE OFF time, cabin temperature and outside temperature, the ACC control module calculates whether the windshield is likely to mist up. If it is, the air distributor will be set to the floor position and the fan to 5.5 A for a maximum of 30 seconds. Afterwards the programme will resume its normal mode of operation. The longest time is achieved at outside temperatures of between +10 °C and +20 °C and an ENGINE OFF time of about one hour.
