Saab 900 models with 4-cylinder engines within the following VIN Serial No. Ranges: R2000001 - T2002623, S7000001 - T7000462
Background
Load variations in the belt circuit can cause the water pump pulley to crack at the hub center. As a result, the multigroove belt will jump off of the pulley and driving of the generator, power steering servo pump and water pump will cease.
The new water pump has a press-fit pulley with yellow identification marking (A), see illustration.

An initial parts order of water pumps equal to 35% of the vehicles wholesaled to your dealership will be shipped automatically on or about April 28, 1997. If our records indicate that you have not received any affected vehicles, no automatic pans shipment will take place. Order additional parts as needed using

Procedure
Please check your DCS On-Line Recall Inquiry to check for open campaigns.
Inspect the water pump's belt pulley. If there is no yellow identification marking (A) on the pulley and it is not secured by means of bolts, (see illustration) replace the water pump.
