DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
Certain cars are pre-wired for the fitting of a tow bar. Provided for this purpose is 8-pin connector 258 (H8-5) in the luggage compartment on the left-hand side under the left-hand rear light cluster.

Current is supplied via connector 258 (H8-5) to the following lights on the trailer:

Pin 1 Brake lights 30 (from the brake lights switch).

Pin 2 Rear light 14, right-hand side, and number plate lamp 15 (from lights switch 10 and fuse 29).

Pin 3 Direction indicator 28, right-hand side (from ICE control module 500).

Pin 4 Direction indicator 27, left-hand side (from ICE control module 500).

Pins 5 Rear fog light 33 (from rear fog light and 8 switch 161).
and 8

Pin 6 Rear light 14, left-hand side (from lights switch 10 and fuse 30).

The ground cable from the tow bar's electrical connection must be connected by means of a separate cable terminal to rear grounding point G3.

FAULT DIAGNOSIS HINTS
1 Check the electrical connections of the towbar connector, particularly for corrosion.
2 Check that current is supplied to all terminals in connector 258 (H8-5).
3 Inspect the fuses and wiring harness.
