DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
On cars for certain markets, the dipped beams serve as daylight driving lights.
Depending on how the ICE control module is programmed, the lamps light up when the ignition switch is turned to the Drive position.
The parking lights, rear lights and number plate lamp will also light up.
Depending on the programming of the ICE control module, dipped beam filaments 12 will be supplied with current when ignition switch 20 is in the Drive position and the lights switch is in position 0 or 1.
Current is supplied to pin 63 of the ICE control module via fuse 15 and lights switch 10 (position 0), with the result that the ICE control module grounds lighting relay 8 and the daylight driving lights come on.
The parking lights are also lit when the daylight driving lights are on, see also the "Parking Lights".
Cars for certain markets have an indicator lamp (47V) which shows when the daylight driving lights are on.
Should one of the dipped beam filaments fail, the dipped beam relay in the filament monitor will operate and terminal C2 will be grounded.
Since pin 4 of the SID unit is grounded, the "DEFECTIVE LAMP" indicator lamp or the INFO DISPL lamp in the main instrument display panel will light up.
FAULT DIAGNOSIS HINTS
The daylight driving lights will be on when ignition switch 20 is in the Drive position and the lights switch is in position 0 or 1 (depending on the market programming of the ICE).
1. Check that fuses 6 and 7 are intact and supplied with current.
2. Check that the bulbs are OK and supplied with current.
3. Check connectors, wiring and ground connections.
