DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
The car's interior lighting is controlled by the ICE control module which grounds the roof lamps, reading lamps and switch.

The interior lighting is supplied with current (+30 circuit) via fuse 4.

The interior lighting is switched on when a door is opened, causing the door switch to close and ground pin 44 (driver's door) or pin 67 (passenger doors) of the ICE control module.

The ICE grounds the lamps according to the position of the switch:

Position 1: (front position) Both roof lamps light up regardless of the position of the ignition switch or whether the ignition key has been removed and regardless of the position of the door.

Position 2: (centre position) Both roof lamps light up when any door is opened or when the key is removed from the ignition switch. (They remain alight as long as the door is open or for a maximum of 20 seconds if the door is closed. The interior lighting is then dimmed).

Position 3: (rear position) Only the rear roof lamp lights up, regardless of the position of the ignition switch or whether the ignition key has been removed and regardless of the position of the door.

The ICE control module is also responsible for controlling the timing of the interior lighting.

Reading Lamps:
The reading lamps can always be operated, regardless of the position of the switch, the position of the ignition switch and whether the doors are open or closed.

FAULT DIAGNOSIS HINTS
1. Check that fuse 4 is intact and supplied with current.
2. Check that lamps 50, 51, 359 and 360 are OK and supplied with current.
3. Check door switches, connectors, wiring and ground connections.
