Cars With TCS
In order for the Cruise Control system to work, at least one of the brake light bulbs must be OK. This means that pin G (7) of the Cruise Control connector must be grounded (via the brake light bulbs) before the Cruise Control system can be activated.
1 Check that the brake, light bulbs are OK.
If the bulbs are not OK, change them and check that they light up.
2 If the brake light bulbs do not light up, continue fault diagnosis by referring to the Integrated Central Electronics (IC(ICE)5GIf the bulbs are OK, check the operation of the Cruise Control system.
3 If the Cruise Control system still does not work, check that a 12 V supply is present across pin G (7) of the Cruise Control connector and a good ground when the brake pedal is depressed.
4 If the voltage is not OK, check whether a 12 V supply is present across pin 2 of the brake light switch and a good ground.
If the voltage is OK, continue with point 8.
If the voltage is not OK, measure the resistance across the load side of the fuse and pin 2 of the brake light switch connector.
If the resistance is > 1 ohm, check the wiring and remedy the fault.
5 Measure the resistance across pins 1 and 2 of the brake light switch when the pedal is depressed and also when it is not depressed.
If the resistance with the pedal depressed is > 1 ohm, adjust the brake light switch or perhaps install a new one.
With the pedal in the normal position (not depressed), the circuit is broken (no continuity). If resistance can be measured in the circuit, change the brake light switch.
6 If the brake light switch is OK, connect a BOB with cables to the wiring of the TCS control module.
With the brake pedal depressed, check the voltage across connection 23 of the TCS control module and a good earth.
7 If the voltage is not OK, check the wiring for continuity or a short circuit by measuring the resistance across pin 1 of the brake light switch and connection 23 of the TCS control module.
If the resistance is > 1 ohm, remedy the fault.
If the resistance is <=1 ohm, continue with point 8.
8 Check the wiring for continuity or a short circuit by measuring the resistance across connection 5 of the TCS control module and pin G (7) of the Cruise Control connector.
If the resistance is > 1 ohm, remedy the fault.
If the resistance is <=1 ohm, continue fault diagnosis with Traction Control System.
9 Connect a BOB with cables to the wiring of the ICE control module. Measure the resistance across connection 23 of the TCS control module and pin 25 of the ICE control module connector.
If the resistance > 1 ohm, check the wiring and remedy the fault.
If the resistance is <=1 ohm, continue fault diagnosis by referring to the Integrated Central Electronics/Electrical system.
