Check Cruise Control Disengagement
Fault Symptom
The Cruise Control does not disengage when the TCS function is activated or the brakes are applied.
Diagnostic Procedure
1. Connect the ISAT (scan tool) and select "BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH" in the "OBTAIN READOUTS" menu. Check that the switch is in proper working order. If it is, proceed to point 2.
NOTE: The car can be jacked up to activate the TCS function. Proceed with the outmost caution if this method is chosen. If only the front of the car is raised and supported on stands, the handbrake must always be applied and no- body should stand in front of the car or beside the front wheels while the test is in progress. Speed should be restricted to the minimum possible above 4 km/h.
2. Select "DISENG CRUISE CONT" in the "OBTAIN READOUTS" menu and check that the Cruise Control system is disengaged when the TCS function is activated or the brakes are applied.
NOTE:
^ The TCS lamp comes on about one second before disengagement takes place.
^ If the Cruise Control disengages correctly, check the cable between pin 5 of the TCS control module and pin G of the Cruise Control for continuity/shorting.
^ If it is then see preliminary diagnostic information.
