Checking the Luggage Compartment Lighting Switch
Fault symptom
Tailgate disconnected from the alarm.
LED flashes during the delay period.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Connect the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT). Select the "OBTAIN READOUTS" menu and then "TAILGATE". Read the ISAT display.
Tailgate open-> "OPEN"
Tailgate closed-> "CLOSED"
2 If this is not OK, connect the BOB and measure the voltage while repeating point 1.
Measure across pin 4 of the anti-theft alarm connector and a good grounding point.
Tailgate open-> 0 V
Tailgate dosed-> 12 V
NOTE: If the luggage compartment lighting bulb has tailed, the voltage will be only 1.5 V instead of 12 V.
If the voltage is not OK, proceed to point 5.
3 Check the wiring for continuity/shorting by measuring the resistance across pin 4 of the anti-theft alarm connector and the luggage compartment lighting switch.
The resistance should be < 1 ohm.
4 If the resistance is OK, the switch is probably at fault. Check that the switch is grounded to the car body.
5 If the fault persists after the above checks have been carried out, continue fault diagnosis as described in Before Control Module Replacement.
