P0445
DTC's P0443, P0444, P0445:
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES PO443, PO444, PO445
EVAPORATION EMISSION CANISTER PURGE VALVE (EVAP VALVE), MALFUNCTIONING OR NOT WORKING AT ALL
Fault symptom
The malfunction indicator lamp is on.
Condition
If there is a short circut/open circuit, a DTC is generated after 125 ms.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Connect an ISAT scan tool.
- Ignition switched ON.
- Select the "EVAP VALVE" command on the ISAT scan tool menu "ACTIVATE".
The command activates the valve at a frequency of 8 Hz for 10 seconds.
- Listen for the sound of the valve working.
- If a longer activation time is need, the command must be repeated again.
- If the valve clicks, continue with step 2.
- If the valve does not click, continue with step 3.
2. Check the resistance of the valve. The correct value is 26 ± 3 Ohms.
- If the value is incorrect, install a new valve.
- If the value is correct, continue with step 6.
DTC's P0443, P0444, P0445:
3. Unplug the 2-pole connector of the purge valve.
- Connect the test lamp to pins 1 and 2 of the female connector.
- Activate with ISAT scan tool command "EVAP VALVE".
The test lamp must flash at a frequency of 8 Hz for 10 seconds.
- If the test lamp flashes, suspect an electrical fault in the purge valve.
- Check the resistance of the valve.
^ The correct value is 26 ± 3 Ohms.
- If the value is incorrect, install a new valve.
- If the value is correct, continue with step 6.
- If the test lamp does not flash or shines with steady glow, continue with step 4.
4. Measure the voltage in the purge valve's connector (female).
- Ignition switched ON.
- Activate with ISAT scan tool command "EVAP VALVE"
^ Pin 2 to Batt - _____ approx. 12 V.
- If there is no voltage in pin 2, the fault is located in the lead between pin 2 and crimped connection J67.
- If there is voltage in pin 2, continue with step 5.
DTC's P0443, P0444, P0445:
5. Check the lead between pin 2 and pins 21 and 27 of the ECM for discontinuity and shorting.
6. Erase the diagnostic trouble code and drive the car to see whether the DTC is generated again.
- If the diagnostic trouble code is registered, continue at "Procedure before replacing ECM".
- If the diagnostic trouble code is not registered, the action taken is correct. Otherwise the fault is intermittent in nature.
