B1462
Fifth bow motors, open circuit/shorting to ground.
Condition
Open circuit or shorting to ground on pin 2 (K20) or pin 12 (K20).
Diagnostic Procedure
1 Connect an ISAT scan tool and read "5TH BOW LATCH MOTOR". Operate the fifth bow up and down by means of the "ROOF" switch so that the latch motor latches and unlatches it. The ISAT scan tool should show the state of the latch motor during operation of the fifth bow. If the SAT scan tool readings are OK, use the scan tool command "DTC DATA" to obtain the values the potentiometers had when the fault occurred. Try to repeat the fault using this information and check that the latch motor can move freely without obstruction. If fifth bow operation is OK, clear the trouble code and check that it is not generated afresh.
2 If the motor does not move at all, unplug connector H2-11 and check the voltage across pin 1 and a good ground and across pin 2 and a good ground. Activate the motor at the same time by means of the ISAT scan tool. A reading of about 12v should be obtained on pin 12 (K20) when the motor latches and on pin 2 (K20) when it unlatches. If the readings obtained are OK then the motor is at fault. Change the motor.
3 If no voltage reading can be obtained, check the wiring harness between H2-11 and the TSAS control module for continuity/shorting.
