Tonneau cover motor, open circuit/shorting to ground

Fault Symptom

The tonneau cover cannot be operated.

Condition

Open circuit or shorting to ground on pin 16 (K20) or pin 17 (K20).

Diagnostic Procedure

1 Connect an ISAT scan tool and read "TONNEAU MOTOR". Operate the tonneau cover by means of the "ROOF" switch. The scan tool should show the state of the motor during operation of the tonneau cover. If the scan tool readings are OK, use the ISAT Scan Tool command "DTC DATA" to obtain the value the main potentiometer had when the fault occurred. Try to repeat the fault using this information and check that the tonneau cover can move freely without obstruction.

If tonneau operation is OK, clear the diagnostic trouble code and check that it is not generated afresh.

2 If the motor does not move at all, unplug connector H2-10 and check the voltage across pin 1 and a good ground and also across pin 2 and a good ground. Activate the tonneau cover at the same time by means of the ISAT Scan Tool or the "ROOF" switch.

A reading of 12v should be obtained on pin 16 when activated up and on pin 17 when activated down.

3 If no voltage reading is obtained, check the wiring harness between H2-10 and the TSAS control module for continuity/shorting.
