Idling speed increase shorted to battery positive
Fault symptom
No idling speed increase takes place when the radiator fan is running
Engine rpm may drop with engine failure as a result.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Plug in a BOB and connect a voltmeter to it. Select "ACT. OTHER FUNCT" on the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool and then "IDLING INCREASE".
Check that a reading of 0 V is obtained when "ON" and 12 V when "OFF".
2 If these readings are not obtained, check the lead between pin 10 of the Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module connector and pin 44 of the M2.10.2 engine management system's control module connector for shorting to battery positive.
3 Plug in the ICE control module and ground pin 44 of the engine management system's control module connector.
Take a voltmeter reading and repeat point 1.
4 It the voltmeter reading is 0 V, consult "Powertrain Management" for diagnosis.
If the voltmeter reading is not 0 V, proceed to "Before Changing an Electronic Control Module".
