B1318
Fifth bow potentiometer, open circuit.
Fault Symptom
The hood cannot be operated.
Note: Diagnostic trouble code B1309 may also be generated if there is an open circuit on any potentiometer. If diagnostic trouble codes B1328, B1323 and B1318 all occur at the same time, there is a fault in the +5v power supply or the ground connections of the potentiometers.
Condition
No reading from the fifth bow potentiometer. Open circuit on pin 31 (K42) or short circuit between the +5v power supply on pin 15 (K42) and the potentiometer input.
Diagnostic Procedure
1 Read the potentiometer value with the ISAT Scan Tool. If there is an open circuit the reading will be about 0.
If the Scan Tool reading is correct, the trouble code should be cleared. Check that it is not generated afresh.
2 Unplug the potentiometer connector and check that about 5v is present on pin 1.
Also check that pin 3 is connected to ground.
3 If the checks in point 2 are OK, there is an open circuit in the potentiometer. Change the potentiometer.
4 Check the wiring harness between pin 2 of the connector and pin 31 (K42) of the control module.
