Fifth bow latch microswitch, open circuit

Fault Symptom

"TOP CYCLE ERROR" is displayed on the SID when the hood is up (closed). The boot lid cannot be released by pressing the button on the inside of the driver's door.

Condition

Open circuit on pin 25 (K42).

Diagnostic Procedure

1 Connect an ISAT Scan Tool and read "5TH BOW LATCH". Operate the fifth bow to test both states of the microswitch (actuated/unactuated). Clear the diagnostic trouble code if the ISAT scan tool shows correct readings. Check that the trouble code is not generated afresh.

2 Unplug the defective microswitch's connector and connect jumper leads as follows:

- between pins 2 and 3 for actuated microswitch
- between pins 2 and 1 for unactuated microswitch

Observe the ISAT Scan Tool at the same time to check that the microswitch reading changes. If the ISAT Scan Tool shows correct readings the microswitch is defective. Change the microswitch.

3 Connect a BOB and check the wiring harness for continuity between pin 2 of the microswitch connector and pin 25 (K42) of the control module.
