Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

Before conducting any tests, disconnect electrical connectors from ECU and air mass meter. Resistance readings should be taken from the back of the ECU connector and with protective cover removed.

1. Using a suitable ohmmeter, measure resistance between ECU terminal 13 (LH2.2) or 18 (LH2.4, 2.4.2) and fuel pump relay terminal 87.

2. Ohmmeter reading obtained should be 4 ohms.

3. If ohmmeter reading obtained is not as specified, proceed as follows:
a. Check resistance of each injection valve individually.
b. Disconnect electrical connector from injection valve.
c. Connect ohmmeter onto injection valve electrical connector and note reading obtained.
d. If injection valve is operating properly, 16 ohms should be obtained at an engine coolant temperature of approximately 68°F. If not, replace injection valve.
e. If 16 ohms is obtained, check ECU cable harness from terminal 13 or 18 to injection valve connectors.
f. Slide back rubber boots and connect ohmmeter between injection valve and back of ECU connector and between injection valve and blue/red wire from fuel pump relay terminal 87.
