Fault codes 2/46221, 2/46271

Malfunction indicated
Temperature sensor, signal faulty or absent

Fault symptom
Poor driveablity, CHECK ENGINE lamp alight.

Test procedure

1 Enter command code 250 on the ISAT. The engine temperature should now be shown on the display, e.g. 80+080 if the temperature is +80°C.

2 With the temperature sensor connector unplugged, measure the resistance of the temperature sensor. See the table below.
If the resistance is not OK, fit a new temperature sensor.

3 If the resistance is OK, plug in the temperature sensor connector and unplug the control module connector. Measure the resistance across pin 13 (YE) at the rear of the connector and a good ground.

4 The resistance should be that shown in the table (a few ohms higher is acceptable).

If it is not, check the YE lead between pin 13 of the connector and pin 1 of the temperature sensor connector for continuity/shorting.

5 Check the BK lead between pin 2 of the temperature sensor connector and the grounding point on the engine for continuity/shorting.

6 Try a new control module.
