Transmission Control Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement).




2. Disconnect the cables (1, 2) from the shift lever assembly.





Note: Do not remove the stopper (2). If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission cable.





Note: Do not rotate the nut excessively as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission cable will not be reusable.

4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180 degrees and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission cable from the shift lever retainer.




5. Remove the bolts (1-4) and the shift lever assembly.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the shift lever assembly with the bolts (1-4) and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).




2. Rotate the transmission cable nut (1) counterclockwise approximately 180 degrees and, while holding the nut in that position, push in the stopper (2) until it makes 2 click sounds.




3. Install the outer part of the transmission cable to the shift lever retainer (1). Check that the position of the spring (2) is in the proper location, and push in the stopper (4).
If the stopper (4) cannot be pushed in, slightly rotate the nut clockwise and then push in the stopper (4).
4. Using a screwdriver, pull the lock piece out from the adjuster case.





Note: With the shift lever in N, make sure that the lock piece is protruding from the adjuster case.

5. Install the cables to the shift lever assembly.

Note: Securely press in the lock piece until the lock engages.

6. Press in and lock the lock piece (3) to the adjuster case.
7. Adjust the transmission shift lever cable. Refer to Manual Transmission Shift Lever Cable Adjustment (MVE 5 Speed - Manual Transmission).
8. Install the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Front Floor Console Replacement).
