Line Pressure Check




Line Pressure Check

Tools Required

Important: This test should only be performed at a normal operating fluid temperature of 50-80°C (122-176°F).


1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair)
2. Remove the left splash shield from vehicle. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side (Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side)




3. Remove the pressure tap plug from test port (1) at the front side of the transaxle.
4. Install the pressure gage (1) and into test port on the transmission.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Route hose over the front fender and through the driver's window so that it can be read from the passenger compartment.
7. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC) and display the engine RPM.
8. Apply the parking brake and block the vehicle wheels.
9. Press the brake pedal fully and start the engine.
10. Place the manual selector in the drive (D) range and record the line pressure while idling.
11. Press the accelerator pedal fully/wide open throttle and record the line pressure in the drive (D) range at stall speed (2,620 ± 300 RPM). Release the accelerator pedal.
12. Place the manual selector in the reverse (R) range and record the line pressure while idling.
13. Press the accelerator pedal fully/wide open throttle and record the line pressure in the reverse (R) range at stall speed (2,620 ± 300 RPM). Release the accelerator pedal.
14. Place the manual selector lever in the PARK position and turn the ignition OFF.
15. Remove the scan tool from the vehicle.
16. Remove pressure gage from the passenger compartment.
17. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair)
18. Remove the pressure gage.
19. Remove adaptor from the line pressure tap test port.
20. Install the line pressure tap bolt into the test port.

Tighten the line pressure tap bolt to 7.5 Nm (66 lb in).

21. Install the left splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side (Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side)
22. Lower the vehicle.

Evaluation

Compare the line pressure test results with the Line Pressure Specifications. Refer to Line Pressure (MVB 4 Speed - Automatic Transmission)
