Transmission Case Assemble

Special Tools
* J 37357 Countershaft Bearing and Race Remover/Installer
* J 44636-1 Front Output Shaft Seal Protector




1. Using J 44636-1 (1) and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
2. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.

Seal depth: -0.5 to +0.5 mm (-0.0197 to +0.0197 in)




3. Using J 44636-1 (1) and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
4. Coat the lip of the oil seal of MP grease.

Seal depth: -0.5 to +0.5 mm (-0.0197 to +0.0197 in)





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

5. Install the lube fluid pipe (3) and lube fluid pipe retainer (1) to the transaxle housing with the bolt (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




6. Install new O-rings to the fluid pressure test hole plugs.
7. Install the fluid pressure test hole plugs to the transaxle housing and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).




8. Coat a new oil seal ring with ATF WS and install it to the transaxle housing.




9. Coat the front differential drive pinion gear inner bearing with ATF WS.
10. Using a press and J 37357 (1), install the front differential drive pinion gear inner bearing.




11. Coat the 4th clutch housing seals (1) with ATF WS, and install them to the transmission case.
12. Coat a new output carrier bearing with ATF WS.




13. Using a press (1), install the output carrier bearing to the transmission case.

Bearing installation depth - 4.0 mm (0.157 in)
