13. Rear Carrier Removal

Rear Carrier Removal




1. Turn the rear carrier gear assembly.
2. Make sure that the rear carrier gear assembly (1) turns freely counterclockwise and locks when turned clockwise.




3. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
4. Remove the rear carrier assembly from the transmission case.




5. Remove the front sun gear thrust needle roller bearing and bearing races from the rear carrier gear assembly.




6. Separate the rear carrier, low and reverse clutch backing plate retaining ring, and the 2nd clutch piston assembly.
