Piston and Connecting Rod Disassemble
Disassemble Procedure
1. Using a piston ring expander (1), remove the 2 compression rings.
Note: Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.
2. Remove the oil ring rail and oil ring expander by hand.
3. Using a screwdriver, pry out the 2 piston pin hole snap rings (1).
4. Gradually heat the piston to between 80 and 90°C (176 and 194°F).
Note:
* The piston and pin are a matched set.
* Arrange the pistons, pin, rings, connecting rods and bearings in the correct order.
5. Using a plastic hammer and brass bar, lightly tap out the piston pin and remove the connecting rod.
6. Inspect crankshaft thrust clearance. Refer to Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Cleaning and Inspection (27. Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Cleaning and Inspection).
