Low and Reverse Clutch Piston Removal

J 39694 Clutch Spring Compressor




1. Remove the front sun gear and front carrier thrust needle roller bearing from the front carrier.




2. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
3. Remove the low and reverse clutch plates from the transmission case.




4. Using a press, J 39694 , and a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
5. Remove the low and reverse clutch spring from the transmission case.





Note:
* Blowing air may cause the piston to jump out. When removing the piston, hold it by hand using a shop rag or piece of cloth.
* Do not splash ATF with compressed air.

6. Apply compressed air to the transmission case to remove the low and reverse clutch piston.




7. Remove the O-rings (1, 2) from the low and reverse clutch piston.
