Direct Clutch Assembly Disassemble

DT-47693-2 Dam Protector




1. Remove the bolt, clamp and clutch apply pipes.
2. Remove the clutch apply pipes from the clamp.




3. Using a screwdriver, remove the transmission case fluid passage gaskets (1, 2).




4. Remove the thrust bearing and direct clutch assembly from the transaxle.




5. Remove the bearing race from the direct clutch.




6. Using a screwdriver, pry out the snap ring from the direct clutch housing.




7. Remove the direct clutch plates from the direct clutch housing.




8. Compress the clutch return spring with a press and DT-47693-2 (1).
9. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring from the direct clutch housing.




10. Remove the direct clutch piston spring guide from the direct clutch housing.




11. Remove the direct clutch piston spring from the direct clutch housing.




12. Install the direct clutch housing on the cover.
13. Holding the direct clutch piston with your hand, apply compressed air to the cover (1) to remove the direct clutch piston.
