Driver's Side Lower Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Latch Loose / Inoperative (Replace Storage Compartment)

Condition

Some customers may comment on the knob/latch separating from the drivers side instrument panel lower storage compartment.

Cause

The latch assembly may not be a robust enough design for the intended function.

Correction





Install a new storage compartment, P/N 19204959 using the instructions below.

1. Open the driver's side lower IP compartment door.

Tip

It is not required to remove the panel from the vehicle in order to remove the compartment. The panel is pictured off-vehicle to better illustrate the retainers.





2. Compress the sides of the driver's IP compartment near the stop tabs (2) until they release.

3. Pull the driver's side IP compartment door assembly toward the rear of the vehicle to release the hinges (1).

4. Insert the driver's side IP compartment door assembly and engage the two hinges (1).

5. Compress the sides of the driver's side IP compartment near the stop tabs (2) until they engage.

6. Close the driver's side IP compartment.
