Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: Service and Repair



Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Release the engine wiring harness clip from the power brake booster vacuum pump bracket and position aside.




2. Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the charged air hose from the throttle body and the intake air pipe.
3. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum pump electrical connector.




4. Release the clamp and disconnect the power brake booster vacuum pump to brake booster vacuum hose.




5. Remove the power brake booster vacuum pump bracket to engine mount bracket bolt.




6. Remove the 2 power brake booster vacuum pump nuts.




7. Remove the power brake booster vacuum pump and bracket from the engine.




8. Remove the 2 power brake booster vacuum pump to bracket nuts and bolts, if necessary and remove the pump from the bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. If removed, install the power brake booster vacuum pump to the bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install power brake booster vacuum pump and the 2 nuts and bolts.

Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Position the power brake booster vacuum pump and bracket to the engine.




4. Install the 2 power brake booster vacuum pump nuts.

Tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).




5. Install the power brake booster vacuum pump to bracket to engine mount bracket bolt.

Tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).




6. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose to the power brake booster vacuum pump and install the clamp.
7. Connect the power brake booster vacuum pump electrical connector.




8. Install the charged air hose to the throttle body and the intake air pipe and tighten the 2 clamps.
9. Install the engine wiring harness clip to the power brake booster vacuum pump bracket.
