Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid (1).
2. Disconnect the EVAP purge pipe (2) by squeezing the retaining clip and pulling the hose from the solenoid.
3. Disconnect the engine vacuum pipe (3) from the purge solenoid.




4. Remove the bolt (2) from the EVAP purge solenoid mounting bracket and remove the EVAP purge solenoid valve (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the bolt (2) to the EVAP purge solenoid mounting bracket and install the EVAP purge solenoid valve (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




2. Install the EVAP purge pipe (2) by squeezing the retaining clip and pulling the hose from the solenoid.
3. Install the engine vacuum pipe (3) from the purge solenoid.
4. Install the electrical connector from the EVAP purge solenoid (1).
