Brake Hose Replacement - Front

^ Tools Required
- J 45059 Angle Meter

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly.





3. Clean the brake hose (5) and the fittings.

4. Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Service Precautions.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Service Precautions.

Loosen and disconnect the brake pipe flare nut (7).
5. Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
6. Remove the screw (1) from the brake hose bracket.
7. Remove the hose and the grommet (6) from the strut.





8. Remove the fitting (4).
9. Remove the brake hose (3).
10. Remove and discard the 2 brake hose gaskets (2,5).
11. Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure
1. Ensure the brake hose and the caliper mating surfaces are clean and free from burrs.
2. Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.





3. Install the following components to the caliper:
^ 2 NEW brake hose gaskets (2,5)
^ The fitting (4)
^ The brake hose (3)

4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the fitting.
1. Tighten the fitting to 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.).
2. Use the J 45059 in order to tighten the fitting an additional 90 degrees.





5. Install the brake hose (5) and the grommet (6) to the bracket on the strut.
6. Install the brake hose bracket and the screw (1).
7. Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe.
8. Install the brake pipe to the brake hose.
9. Tighten the brake pipe flare nut (7).
Tighten the flare nut to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
10. Verify the brake hose is not twisted.
11. Bleed the hydraulic brake system at the front caliper bleeder valve.
12. Install the front tire and wheel assembly.
