Park Brake Cable Replacement - Left Rear
Park Brake Cable Replacement- Left RearRemoval Procedure
1. Release the park brake.
2. Pull the park brake lever boot to the side.
3. Loosen the park brake cable adjustment nut (1).
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. If necessary, remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Propeller Shaft.
6. Remove the left rear cable grommet from the clip (5).
7. Wrap cloth or tape around the left rear cable (6) near the equalizer (1).
8. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the left rear cable forward and up in order to release the cable from the equalizer.
9. Pull the insulation for the cable rearward in order to release the cable from the bracket (2).
10. Wrap cloth or tape (4) around the cable near the rear clevis (3).
11. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the cable rearward in order to release the clevis from the park brake actuating lever (2).
12. Pull the insulation for the cable forward in order to release the cable from the control arm retainer.
13. Remove the cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Push the park brake cable rearward through the control arm retainer in order to install the cable to the retainer.
2. If necessary, wrap cloth or tape (4) around the cable near the clevis (3).
3. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, install the clevis to the park brake actuating lever (2).
4. Push the insulation for the cable forward in order to retain the cable to the bracket (2).
5. If necessary, wrap cloth or tape around the left rear cable (6) near the equalizer (1).
6. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, push the cable forward and down in order to install the cable to the equalizer.
7. Install the left rear grommet to the clip (4).
8. Remove all the cloth or tape from the cable.
9. If you removed the propeller shaft, install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Propeller Shaft.
10. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
11. Lower the vehicle.
