Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair



Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.





2. Release the electronic brake control module (EBCM) harness connector lock (1).
3. Disconnect the EBCM harness connector (2).
4. Remove the 6 brake pipes from the brake modulator assembly (3).
5. Plug the brake pipes in order to prevent loss or contamination of brake fluid.
6. Remove 2 nuts (4) securing the brake pressure modulator to the bracket (5).
7. Remove the brake pressure modulator (3).

Installation Procedure





1. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the brake pressure modulator assembly (3) to the bracket (5). Secure with 2 nuts (4).
Tighten the brake modulator assembly nuts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
2. Remove the plugs from brake pipes and connect the brake pipes to the brake modulator assembly (3).
Tighten the brake pipe fittings nuts to 13.5 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the EBCM electrical connector (2).
4. Bleed the brake system.
5. Perform Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
