Intermediate Shaft Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the right wheel drive shaft assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement.





2. Remove the 3 bolts from the intermediate shaft bearing arbor (1).
3. Remove the intermediate shaft (2) from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the intermediate shaft (2) and the intermediate shaft bearing for rough operation, for excessive wear, or for damage. For disassembly and for inspection procedures, refer to Intermediate Shaft Overhaul.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the intermediate shaft (2) into the transaxle. Install the 3 bolts in order to retain the intermediate shaft in the intermediate shaft bearing arbor.
Tighten the bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the right wheel drive shaft assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement.
