Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J34839 Pinion Bearing Remover
- J37764 Pilot Bearing Remover Adapter
- J23907 Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover

1. Remove the manual transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transaxle Replacement.
2. Remove the clutch pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Remove the clutch disc. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.






4. Use J34839 the, J37764 the J23907 and the in order to remove the clutch pilot bearing (1).
5. Inspect the clutch pilot bearing (1) for the following conditions:
^ Scored bearings
^ Binding
^ Damage

Installation Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J36190 Drive Handle
- J34848 Clutch Pilot Bearing Installer






1. Use J34848 with J36190 in order to install the clutch pilot bearing (1) into the crankshaft.
2. Install the clutch disc. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Install the pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
4. Install the manual transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transaxle Replacement.
