Removal Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover

Caution: If one stud is damaged, replace all the studs. A loose-running wheel may cause only one stud to break, but the other studs could have internal fatigue. Replacing only the broken stud and remounting the wheel may cause further damage and personal injury. If the stud holes in the wheels have become enlarged or distorted, replace the wheel.





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Brakes and Traction Control.
4. Install 2 wheel nuts to 2 wheel studs.
5. Install a pry bar on the 2 nuts in order to prevent the hub from turning.
6. Use the J 6627-A in order to remove the wheel stud from the hub.

Installation Procedure





1. Insert the wheel stud into the wheel stud hole.
2. Install a washer and the wheel nut on the wheel stud.
3. Install 2 wheel nuts onto 2 wheel studs.
4. Install a pry bar on the 2 nuts in order to prevent the hub from turning.
5. Pull the wheel stud with the wheel nut.
6. If necessary, tighten the wheel nut in order to seat the wheel stud.
7. Remove the 3 wheel nuts and the washer.
8. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Brakes and Traction Control.
9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
