Fuel Line Coupler: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Grasp both sides of the quick-connect fitting, and twist the fitting 1/4 turn in each direction in order to loosen any dirt.
CAUTION: Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Use compressed air in order to remove any dirt, dust, or other foreign material form the quick-connect fuel line fitting.
3. Squeeze the release tabs on the plastic retainer.
4. Pull the quick connect fuel fitting apart. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak from the fuel line and from the fitting.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Remove any dirt or any burrs from the end of the male fuel pipe.
CAUTION: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends before connecting fuel pipe fittings in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury.
This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak.
During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.
2. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the end of the male fuel pipe.
3. Insert the male fuel pipe into the quick-connect fitting.
4. Push both sides of the quick-connect fitting together until the fitting clicks.
5. Repeatedly pull on both sides of the quick-connect fitting in order to ensure that the connection is secure.
