Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair





REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to EVAP Carbon Particles Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge valve.
3. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector.
4. Remove the two bolts from the EVAP canister surge tank bracket.
5. Move the EVAP canister surge tank and bracket away from the EVAP canister purge valve.
6. Remove the one nut from the EVAP canister purge valve bracket.
7. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the EVAP canister purge valve to the EVAP canister surge tank bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Secure the EVAP canister purge valve to the bracket with the one nut.

Tighten
Tighten the EVAP canister purge valve nut to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

3. Install the EVAP canister purge valve and bracket to the intake manifold bracket with the two bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bracket bolts to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).

4. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector.

IMPORTANT: Refer to the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label for the proper routing of the EVAP hoses.

5. Connect the two vacuum hoses to the EVAP canister purge valve.
6. Install the air cleaner.
