43. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Housing Installation

1. Lubricate the new crankshaft rear main oil seal with Chassis Grease GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent.
2. Install the rear main seal to the cylinder block with a new gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the rear main oil seal housing and retaining bolts (1,2).
Tighten the five rear main oil seal housing retaining bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
4. After installing the rear main oil seal housing, trim any excess gasket material from the cylinder block mating surface.
