Radiator: Service and Repair
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
3. Release the hose clamp (1) in order to remove the upper (inlet) hose (3) from the radiator (2).
4. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the lower (outlet) hose from the radiator by releasing the hose clamp.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Release the hose clamp in order to remove the overflow hose from the radiator.
8. Remove the radiator cooling fan electrical connector (1).
9. Remove the transaxle cooler hoses from the bottom radiator tank (automatic transaxle equipped vehicle).
10. Remove two upper radiator/fan mounting bolts.
11. Remove the fan and the radiator from the vehicle as a unit.
12. Remove one lower mounting bolt in order to remove the fan from the radiator.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the radiator cooling fan to the radiator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Secure the fan with one lower mounting bolt.
Tighten the lower radiator cooling fan mounting bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Install the radiator and fan to the vehicle.
4. Secure the radiator and fan to the core support with two upper radiator/fan mounting bolts.
Tighten the two upper radiator/fan mounting bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Install the transaxle cooler hoses to the bottom radiator tank (automatic transaxle equipped vehicle).
6. Secure the hoses with the screws on the hose clamps (1).
7. Install the radiator cooling fan electrical connector (1).
8. Connect the overflow hose to the radiator. Secure with a hose clamp.
9. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
10. Connect the lower hose to the radiator. Secure with a hose clamp.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Connect the upper hose to the radiator. Secure with a hose clamp.
13. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
