Wheel Cylinder Overhaul

Disassembly Procedure





1. Disassemble the boots (1).
2. Disassemble the pistons (2).
3. Disassemble the cup seals (3).
4. Disassemble the spring (5).
5. Disassemble the bleeder valve.
6. Clean the wheel cylinder body (4) in clean brake fluid.
7. Dry the wheel cylinder body (4) with filtered, unlubricated compressed air.
8. Inspect the wheel cylinder body (4), the piston (2), the cup seals (3) and the spring (5) for the following conditions:
- Rust
- Deterioration
- Wear
- Pitting
- Corrosion

Assembly Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Assemble the bleeder valve.
- Tighten the bleeder valve to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
2. Assemble the spring (5) to the wheel cylinder body (4).
3. Lubricate the cup seals (3, 6) with brake fluid.
4. Assemble the cup seals (3, 6). Take care that the lip does not turn under.
5. Lubricate the pistons (2, 7) with brake fluid.
6. Assemble the pistons (2, 7).
7. Assemble the boots (1, 8) over the end of the wheel cylinder body (4). Insure that the lip of the boot sits securely in the groove on the wheel cylinder body.
