Brake Pipe Replacement (Rear)
Removal Procedure1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Clean all of the dirt and foreign material from the pipes and fittings.
3. Remove the mounting nuts and the three brake fluid/fuel pipe guard plates (3).
4. Remove the brake pipe(s) from the rear four-way junction and from the proportioning valve (non-ABS) or front four-way junction (ABS-equipped).
5. Remove the pipe(s) from the bulkhead guide brackets (7).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the brake pipe(s) to the vehicle.
2. Secure the brake pipes with the guide brackets (7).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the fitting nuts at the proportioning valve.
- Tighten the brake pipe fitting nuts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
4. Install three brake fluid/fuel pipe guard plates (3). Secure the guard plates with nuts.
- Tighten the brake fluid/fuel pipe guard plate nuts to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Flush and bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Flushing.
