Brake Pads Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Siphon two-thirds of the fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
4. Position the C-clamp around the outer pad and caliper. Tighten the clamp until the piston bottoms in its bore.
5. Remove the two caliper mounting bolts.





6. Remove the caliper (2) from the caliper carrier. Suspend the caliper with a wire (1) in order to prevent damage to the brake hose.





7. Remove the pads (4) from the caliper carrier.





8. Remove the caliper dampener clips from the caliper carrier (1).

Installation Procedure





1. Install two caliper dampener clips to the caliper carrier (1).





2. Install the pads to the caliper carrier (1).
3. Lubricate the caliper pins (3) with silicone grease.
4. Install the 2 caliper pins (3) with the boots to the caliper carrier (1)





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Secure the caliper (2) to the caliper carrier (3) with two caliper mounting bolts.
- Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Refer to Brake Fluid Reservoir.
