Front Seat Recliner Mechanism Replacement (4 Door)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front seat assembly. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).




2. Remove the following components from the recliner mechanism:

1. 1 screw
2. The recliner handle (3)

3. Remove the following components from the seat assembly:

1. 2 screws
2. The seat cushion side panel (1)




4. Remove the inboard seat back hinge arm screw (2) from the seat assembly.




5. Roll the cover (2) upward slowly and evenly.




6. Remove the 2 mounting bolts that secure the recliner mechanism (2) to the seat back (1).




7. Remove the bolt that secures the recliner mechanism (4) to the seat cushion (7).
8. Remove the following components which secure the recliner mechanism (4) to the outboard seat adjuster (8):

* The nut
* The bolt

9. Remove the recliner mechanism (4) from the seat.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the recliner mechanism (4) to the outboard seat adjuster (8). Secure the mechanism with the nut and the mounting bolt.
2. Install the recliner mechanism (4) to the seat cushion (7). Secure the mechanism with the mounting bolt.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the recliner mechanism (4) to the seat back (3). Secure the mechanism with 2 mounting bolts.

Tighten the recliner mechanism mounting bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).

4. Reposition the seat back cover (1).




5. Install the inboard seat back hinge arm screw (2) to the seat assembly.




6. Install the seat cushion side panel (5) to the seat. Secure the side panel with 2 screws.




7. Install the recliner handle (3) to the recliner mechanism (2). Secure the handle with 1 screw.
8. Install the front seat assembly. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
