Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (4 Door)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* The 2 screws which secure the rear license plate
* The rear license plate

2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) in General Information.
3. Remove the screw that retains each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.




4. Remove 2 screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (3) to the outer support.




5. Remove the lower mounting nut (1) from each side of the rear bumper fascia.




6. Remove the lower screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (1).
7. Lower the vehicle.




8. Open the rear compartment lid.
9. Fold back the rear compartment carpet in order to attain access to the retainers that attach the rear compartment center trim panel.
10. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* The 9 plastic retainers that retain the rear compartment center trim panel
* The rear compartment center trim panel (1)

11. Position the rear compartment side trim panels aside in order to attain access to the upper mounting bolts that retain the rear bumper fascia.
12. Remove the upper mounting nut from each side of the rear bumper fascia.




13. Pull the rear bumper fascia (1) rearward in order to attain access to the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
14. Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
15. Remove the rear bumper fascia (1) from the vehicle.




16. Remove the following components from the rear bumper fascia, if necessary:

* The 2 screws that retain the rear license plate lamp
* The rear license plate lamp (3)

17. Remove the 6 screws that retain the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar to the fascia, if necessary.
18. Remove the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar from the fascia, if necessary.




19. Gently pry the rear license plate lamp brackets (1) from the fascia (2) by using a flat bladed tool, if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the rear license plate lamp brackets to the fascia, if removed.
2. Install the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar to the fascia, if removed. Secure the brace and the impact bar with the six screws.
3. Install the rear license plate lamp (3) to the rear bumper fascia, if removed. Secure the lamp with 2 screws.




4. Connect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
5. Install the rear bumper fascia (1) to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Secure the rear bumper fascia with the upper nut at each side of the fascia.

Tighten the upper mounting nuts of the rear bumper fascia to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

7. Reposition the rear compartment side trim panels back to the correct position.




8. Install the rear compartment center trim panel (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trim panel with 9 plastic retainers.
9. Fold the rear compartment carpet back to the original position.
10. Close the rear compartment lid.




11. Raise the vehicle.
12. Install the lower screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (1).




13. Install the lower mounting nut (1) to each side of the rear bumper fascia.

Tighten the lower mounting nuts of the rear bumper to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




14. Install the 2 screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (3) to the outer support.




15. Install the screw that retains each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.
16. Lower the vehicle.
17. Install the rear license plate to the vehicle. Secure the license plate with 2 screws.
