Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (2 Door)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* The 2 screws which secure the rear license plate
* The rear license plate

2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) in General Information.
3. Remove the screw that retains each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.




4. Remove the 2 screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (3) to the outer support.




5. Remove the lower mounting nut (1) from each side of the rear bumper fascia.




6. Remove the lower screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (1).
7. Lower the vehicle.




8. Open the liftgate.
9. Fold back the rear compartment carpet in order to attain access to the retainers of the rear compartment center trim panel.
10. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* The 9 plastic retainers which secure the rear compartment center trim panel
* The rear compartment center trim panel (1)




11. Remove the upper mounting nuts (1) from the rear bumper fascia.




12. Slide the rear bumper fascia (1) rearward in order to attain access to the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
13. Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
14. Remove the rear bumper fascia (1) from the vehicle.




15. Remove the following components from the rear bumper fascia, if necessary:

* The 2 screws which secure the rear license plate lamp
* The rear license plate lamp (3)




16. Remove 6 screws (1) that retain the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar (2) to the fascia (3), if necessary.
17. Remove the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar from the fascia, if necessary.




18. Gently pry the rear license plate lamp brackets (1) from the fascia (2) by using a flat bladed tool, if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the rear license plate lamp brackets to the fascia, if removed.
2. Install the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar to the fascia, if removed. Secure the brace and the impact bar with 6 screws.
3. Install the rear license plate lamp (3) to the rear bumper fascia, if removed. Secure the lamp with 2 screws.




4. Connect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
5. Install the rear bumper fascia (1) to the vehicle.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Secure the rear bumper fascia with the upper mounting nuts (1).

Tighten the upper mounting nuts of the rear bumper fascia to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




7. Install the rear compartment center trim panel (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trim panel with the nine plastic retainers.
8. Fold the rear compartment carpet back to the original position.
9. Close the liftgate.




10. Raise the vehicle.
11. Install the lower screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (1).




12. Install the lower mounting nut (1) to each side of the rear bumper fascia.

Tighten the lower mounting nuts on the rear bumper fascia to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




13. Install 2 screws (2) that retain the rear bumper fascia (3) to the outer support.




14. Install the screw that retains each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.
15. Lower the vehicle.
16. Install the rear license plate to the vehicle. Secure the license plate with 2 screws.
