3. Transaxle Side Case (Left Case)

Removal Procedure
^ Tools Required
^ J 23907Slide Hammer
^ J 29369-2 Output Shaft Bearing Puller





1. If the left countershaft bearing race is damaged, use J 23907 with J 29369-2 in order to remove the race from the left case.





2. Remove the bolt and the oil gutter from the left case.





3. Remove the left differential oil seal from the left case.
4. Clean all of the case components and the internal parts thoroughly with solvent. Dry the components.
5. Inspect all the components for excessive wear or damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

^ J 35538 Axle Shaft Seal Installer
^ J 35425 High Speed Hub Installer
^ J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant





1. Use the J 35538 and a hammer in order to install the left differential oil seal.
2. Apply J 36850 to the left differential oil seal lip.





3. Apply Loctite 414 GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent to the threaded portion of the oil gutter bolt.





4. Install the oil gutter into the left case. Secure the oil gutter with the oil gutter bolt.
^ Tighten the oil gutter bolt to 12 Nm (8.5 ft. lbs.).
