Backup Lamps
GENERAL DESCRIPTI0NThe backup lamps are incorporated into the tail lamps. The backup lamps operate with the ignition in the ON position. Place the selector lever in R:
^ The gear selector lever (manual transaxle equipped vehicles)
^ The manual selector lever (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles)
The following switches complete the backup lamps circuit and turn ON the backup lamps:
^ The backup lamp switch (manual transaxle equipped vehicles)
^ The transmission range switch (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is in the ON/START positions, the back fuse applies battery voltage to the following switches:
^ The backup lamp switch (manual transaxle)
^ The transaxle range switch (automatic transaxle)
When you place the manual selector lever or the gearshift control lever in the R position, the switch closes. Battery voltage is applied to the backup lamps within the rear combination lamps. The rear combination lamps are permanently grounded through the junction block at G400.
